Perfect combo August 15, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was looking at, and reviewing, gas grills for months but was so hesitant to spend the money because, despite the convenience and cool looks of a shiny stainless grill, I knew from experiences at bbq's at friends and family, that the food just tasted like it was cooked in the kitchen and warmed outside. I missed the charcoal flavor of my youth. So when I fell upon a review of the performer, I couldn't believe it. As soon as I saw the gas ignition, I was sold. And then the charcoal storage bin, lid holder, ash can, and large table really got me excited. I would have spent MORE than 300 for this thing. It's like I found my soulmate. Assembly took MAYBE 20 minutes. The fact that the instructions are not written is a clue to how simple it is. (Why didn't someone tell LV51 (Dec '07) that the casters SNAP into place? They do not fall off.) The ONLY drawback is that you have to wait quite a while, unlike gas grills, for the thing to cool down before putting the cover on. Regardless, I give this thing 6 stars.
This is one sweet grill! July 17, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am sooo so glad I bought this :)
I gave this to my boyfriend as his Father's Day gift and he's been grilling with it nearly every day!
Assembly was a breeze. I was able to put it together by myself in under an hour - no problems whatsoever. Very intuitive design, easy to use, cooks great - no complaints! I don't think my boyfriend will EVER go back to gas grillin' thanks to the Performer. If I could give this 10 stars I would. Best buy of the summer!!!
green grill July 17, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This grill does exactly what it's supposed to do.......the propane feature takes about 10-15 minutes to have the coals burning mostly white. It's a little awkward, though, when adding more coals around the 2 metal holders. The propane flame does not reach the outer edges of the bottom grate, so I've used a match to light the outer portion of charcoal, then used the propane for the metal holders.

Weber 847001 22-1/2-Inch Performer Charcoal Grill with Touch-N-Go Propane Ignition, Green
I am very happy with my charcoal grill. It is so easy to operate and the "touch-n-go propane ignition" makes it very easy to start the charcoals.
Good product no so good assembly instructions July 1, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I make TV programs so I am somewhat visually oriented but the illustrations that were used as assembly instructions left a bit to be desired. If they had simply accompanied them with English I would not have had to assemble and disassemble it several times. Otherwise the gadget works just great and I love the propane starter. No more messy starter fluid and it is very fast.
