Surprisingly stable September 5, 2008
I'm no lightweight, but I feel perfectly safe in this chair. I was disappointed by the short rope length. It is, however, easy enough to extend it with some reasonable level of safety, given some sturdy chain. No bigger than a good collapsible lawn chair when packed up.
Three design flaws prevent this item from receiving a fifth star:
1: The metal bars, while lightweight and easy to move, are thin enough that I have serious concerns about the longterm viability of this product.
2: The cup holder's position is somewhat awkward, regardless of where it is mounted on the device. There really isn't a good place for it - Be prepared to do some reaching, and stick to capped off bottles, if you don't want to get wet.
3: (This may not affect too many folks) It would be beneficial to have a hook on the bottom of the chair to help suspend it out of the rain, when hung off of an overhang.
On a vendor-specific note, the box Amazon used to ship both of mine, in separate orders, was easily 2-3 times larger than required. Well enough packed, but it seemed a little wasteful.

I bought these to rig them in my tree for technical tree climbing. They aren't safety rated but we do not un-clip from our saddles when using them and I have strung additional rope for tying them to the tree because the rope supplied is easily snagged and I imagine in the sun it wouldn't weather well. These are very comfortable chairs.
