5 out of 5 stars cast iron cookware   July 16, 2008
You can't beat the value and quality with this. Designed for 1 or 2 people it is small enough to fit over any campfire of in any samll oven.

4 out of 5 stars Except for difficulty getting wax coating off, a great pot   February 27, 2008

This pot came with instructions for seasoning, which mentioned that it comes coated with a protective paraffin (wax) coating, which should be washed off with a mild detergent and warm water before seasoning. Then the pot is to be seasoned like any cast iron pot.
The paraffin was not at all easy to remove. I had to scrub the pot, heat it, and rescrub a few times to remove most of the paraffin. Then I seasoned it.
But after all that work, IT IS AN EXCELLENT CAST IRON POT!! I am sure it will last many years.
PS. Like all cast iron pots the handle gets hot, so use a pot holder.

3 out of 5 stars What is the seasoning?   August 31, 2007

I am familiar with cast iron seasoning, both commercially applied and my own here at home. When these arrived I was disappointed to discover that they are coated with a substance that is different than what is normally on cast iron cookware. It may be wax, I really don't know. I don't have enough confidence to use these pots, as a health condition requires me to be extremely careful about what I eat and drink. They are well made, and a nice size/shape...but the coating really put me off using them.
