Second, place EasyBloom in the spot where you would like to grow a plant, or next to the plant that needs monitoring and leave it for 24 hours. Finally, plug EasyBloom back into a USB port--sensor data will upload to the EasyBloom website, which will use that data to either recommend plants or diagnose a plant's problem. Great geek gadget for the would-be green thumb January 6, 2009 Easy to use and provides useful information on which plants to look to put in thoes hard to grow ANYTHING spots.
EASY BLOOM January 6, 2009 Pretty simple and straight forward. You hook it up to get the program set, then take it outside, stick it into the ground, reconnect to the computer, and it tells you about the light, soil and water conditions. It even makes recommendations as to what to plant in a given spot. Really cool gizmo. I like it.
ONLY USABLE IN UNITED STATES! December 31, 2008 Buyer Beware - THIS PRODUCT CAN NOT BE USED OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES! This useful piece of information is not stated in the product description (nor on the product box!). Living in Europe, I would have found this information useful prior to buying the product...
After purchasing Easybloom, I tried to register it to gain access to the database only to find out that an American zip code was mandatory to register the product. After contacting EasyBloom's customer service, they indeed confirmed that the "EasyBloom sensor will not function as intended outside the United States, because results are calculated from data specifically tied to US zip codes (longitude/latitude)."
Although this might be a good product if you live in the US, a bit more transparency about the product requirements would have been useful!!!
The iPod for the Backyard December 12, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a very impressive product. I am not a native gardener and live far away from my family (can't ask mom for advice) Also most of my neighbors are new to the area and do not know much about the conditions for our soil and climate.
EasyBloom solved these issues. It's like having a professional gardener (or mom) looking over your shoulder and garden. it brings tribal knowledge back to the backyard.
I also like that I can go deep on what is appropriate for my backyard or look for an easy recommendation -- kind of like an iPod for the gardening set.
EasyBloom will be on our present list this holiday season.
My only knock is that it caused us to pull a PC out of storage (we are all Mac). Does anyone know when the Apple version comes out?
Great holiday gift! December 1, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have to admit that I am a gardening newbie. I want to make my yard look nicer and can certainly do my own planting, but am always stumped by not knowing what will work where.. This is the product that helps me with that. As to the earlier comment about soil and fertility testing, that would be good but I live in California and that never tends to really be a big issue in most places. It is usually water and light..
Anyway, love the product and I am buying a few more as Xmas gifts for my sisters.
