Amazon.com Review Monitor temperatures with this easy-to read wireless temperature station from industry leader, LaCrosse Technology. Simple and sleek in design, the temperature station allows users to assess outdoor temperatures to plan appropriately for weather conditions while also keeping an eye on the indoor climate for energy efficiency and maximum comfort. The temperature station receiver features an adjustable LCD screen, which relays conditions including the time, date, indoor and outdoor temperatures, and the minimum and maximum temperature recordings. Temperatures can be displayed by either Fahrenheit or Celsius degrees, while time of day can be viewed in 12- or 24- hour formats. To monitor outdoor conditions, a LaCrosse TX6U sensor is included. The sensor transmits information to the receiver from up to 80 feet at a 433.92MHz frequency. Transmission through walls reduces this range. While the sensor fares well in fog or mist, shelter it to prevent rain damage. The temperature system measures temperatures ranging from +32 to +140 degrees F. The outdoor sensor registers temperatures ranging from -21.8 to +157.2 degrees F. With a radio-controlled time and date function, the temperature station automatically updates for Daylight Savings Time or travel to a new time zone. The temperature station hangs or can stand upright on a tabletop. The outdoor sensor comes with a mounting hardware. Separate purchase of four AA alkaline batteries is required to power the temperature station and sensor. Replace batteries annually for best results. The weather station accommodates up to three outdoor sensors. LaCrosse encloses a thorough manual for setting up the weather station. This product is covered under a limited one-year warranty. The base monitor measures 5-2/3 by 3-1/45 by 1-1/4 inches while the sensor is approximately 5 by 1.5 by 4/5 inches. This item weighs 2 pounds upon shipping. --Jessica Reuling

Not too shabby.... December 4, 2008 It's usually 2-3 degrees off on the outside temp but if you want 100% accuracy be prepared to spend $200 bucks on that type of system. We can look at ours in the AM and at least tell how heavy or light of a jacket we need to wear and the big numbers makes it easy to look at a glance from a short distance.
Outdoor temperature problem November 28, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've own one of these for the past five years, and they are great. There is nothing better than being able to know how hot or cold it is outside, while I am getting ready for work. I recently bought one of the units that give you the three day weather forcast. I wasn't sure how much better it would be, but it is nice, being able to know wheather it will be sunny, cloudy or rainy. (We don't get much snow down in Memphis)
But anyway, the reason I'm writing is because of the problem people have mentioned with the outdoor temperature not showing up. You really have to follow the directions correctly. I thought mine was broke as well, but I had forgoten to wait to set the time on the clock, until the outdoor temperature displays on the unit. Don't ask me why, but you have to wait.
Seems to work fine. November 19, 2008 At first I thought it might be defective. So I read the instructions :) My only beef is that the range of sensor seems considerably smaller than it's supposed to be. When I moved it about 50' from the base, the signal was unreliable.
Keep out of direct sunlight November 17, 2008 Work's great. Just make sure the outside unit is out of direct sunlight or it will say it is much hotter than it is.
Doesn't receive through walls November 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Simply, this product doesn't work.
The receiver doesn't receive the outside sensor signal through an outside wall. If you place the sensor within ten feet without walls, it works fine, but it does not fulfill its description.
Avoid this product!
