tremendous time- and money-saver November 5, 2008 Not for removing stains, but great for freshening dry clean only clothing, especially sweaters and blouses. I personally feel better putting items in a bag, so I've saved an old Dryel bag for this purpose. Don't let clothes get wrinkled in a hamper waiting to be dry cleaned, remove and hang promptly, and clothes are ready to go!
Dry Cleaner's Secret saves me a small fortune! October 1, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I work in a Manhattan office and wear dry clean only clothing almost every day. My bills would be immense without this stuff! It rocks. Seriously. I mean how often do people gush about a laundry product?
This has no bags or expensive starter kits like with Dryel. You get a bunch of sheets saturated with cleaner, like thick damp dryer sheets.
You dab off any small smudges, then toss 4-5 pieces of similar colored clothing in the dryer for half an hour with the cleaning sheet.
Hang your clothes up overnight (or for a few minutes if you're like me and end up doing it in the morning!) and they look smooth and reshaped, and smell fresh.
Works great for anything that isn't actually grimy, just out of shape or wrinkled. Now I take my garments to the real dry cleaner every three or four wearings. My job requires a neat and professional appearance, and this stuff does the trick!
Besides the obvious savings, it's less time spent going to the dry cleaner. I buy clothes without fear of the time and expense of cleaning them. And if I want to wear my favorite skirt on a whim, I can. I don't have to wait until I have time to get it to the cleaner.
Obviously, use your common sense. Badly stained or sweaty garments won't work. And if you have a super expensive power suit, take it to an expensive cleaner.
But if your moderately priced dry clean clothing often ends up wrinkled but basically clean, buy this and save. It's never ruined or even damaged an article of my clothing, and for what I'm saving, I could replace the occasional garment if it ever did.
Very overpriced, ineffective at removing stains, Dryel is better September 29, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this product based on the many positive reviews here, and I was very disappointed. I followed the directions for the product and used one cloth for one two-piece suit. The suit had no stains, but it did have a light odor under the arms, which this "cleaning" cloth did not remove or even mask. The only thing this cloth did was give the whole suit a very light fragrance. I don't see how this would remove any staining at all. If you are looking for something to re-fresh your clothing, I would recommend tossing your clothing in the dryer for 15 min with a microfiber (lint-free) damp cloth with a couple of sprays of your favorite perfume. The effect will be the same, and you will save money and save the environment another piece of trash. I have tried Dryel in the past for home dry-cleaning and I am going to go back to it. Dryel makes a much more effective product that actually CLEANS! I would not recommend this product!
Prefer Dryel September 14, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have tried Woolite Dry Cleaner as well as Dryel. I prefer Dryel because it is more effective at cleaning your clothes. Dryel comes with a spot treater and a clothes bag; you treat any spots and put up to four articles of clothes into the bag, and then toss it in the dryer. For both the Woolite and Dryle products, however, putting a load of wet clothes along with the dry cleaned garments seem to make the system more effective. Take the clothes out immediately after the dryer stops and hang them to prevent wrinkles. Pants may need to be pressed with a hot steam iron to get a nice crease in them.
Lastly, do not expect miracles. The Dryel will only work on lightly-stained clothes; the Woolite only freshens up items as far as I can tell. Take moderately-stained items to be dry-cleaned. My fear is that I'll cook a stain in using Dryel or Woolite. But either product will save you a few trips to the dry-cleaners, and that can save you tons of money pretty quickly, especially as dry cleaning ruins your clothes.
Met my expectations September 8, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'm happy I had the option to buy this product using Subscribe and Save. If I clean 4 garmets at a time, as it says I can, it's costing me around $0.30 a piece. The quality of the cleaning is adequate for my needs - I have light wool/synthetic suits I had custom-made abroad and wear suits 5 days a week. The process is quick and easy - just pop it in the dryer, spot clean with the included cloth if necessary. The only downsides are: 1) I worry about getting the cleaning material on my hands - definitely wash them right away and 2) unlike the dry cleaner, this kit won't pleat your pants! I've already cleaned 8 garments with good, fresh smelling and "stiff but still soft" feeling results. I'll keep this on my Subscribe and Save and may even need to bump up my next shipment! Thanks, Amazon.
