Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Product Description
Always know what time it is. The Sony ICF-C218 Automatic Time Set Clock Radio has a 0.9" green LED display, which is easily viewable from across the room, but takes up very little space on your nightstand. It hosts a number of features including automatic time set, automatic Daylight Savings Time adjustment, built-in calendar, AM/FM tuner and full power memory back up. The correct EST (Eastern Standard Time) has been preset at the factory, so just plug the clock in and adjust the time zone as necessary. In the case of a power interruption, the built-in Lithium battery maintains the correct time so when the power returns you don't have to re-set the clock.

Product Description
The correct EST (Eastern Standard Time) has been preset at the factory, so just plug the clock in and adjust the time zone as necessary. In the case of a power interruption, the built-in Lithium battery maintains the correct time so you don't have to re-set the clock. When Daylight Savings Time changes take place in the spring and fall each year, there is no need to adjust the clock because the built-in calendar recognizes the dates and automatically makes the proper time adjustments. Dual Alarms with Alarm Indicator permits two separate wake-up times with individual wake-up settings and confirms that the alarm has been activated to turn on at the pre-set time. Choose your own snooze time instead of being held captive by the short time intervals of other snooze times. Each press of the snooze button adds an additional 10 minutes to your total snooze time for up to a full hour of uninterrupted sleep. Day/Night Function - Time - 12-hour system Audio Frequency Range - AM 530-1710kHz, FM 87.5-108MHz Antenna System - AM Built-in Ferrite Bar Antenna, FM Power Code Alarm - Radio or Buzzer Power Requirements - AC 120V, 60Hz Output Power - 150mW at 10% harmonic distortion Battery Life (Approx.) - Up to 250 Days with Sony battery Speaker Dimensions - 2 5/8-inch (66mm) Dimensions - Width 6 1/8 x Height 2 9/16 x Depth 5 15/16 inch (155 x 64.5 x 150mm) Weight - 1 pounds 1 ounce (495 grams)

4 out of 5 stars a good value   November 24, 2008
The numbers are large and clear, which is great if you're myopic and trying to figure out what time it is in the middle of the night. The interface is relatively straightforward and has some nice features so you don't waste time noodling around with setting the alarm or tuning a station. The battery back up ROCKS- you don't have to reset it when the power fails. My one complaint is that it's a bit too bright: it glows more than I'd like. For the price, though, it's a good deal.

3 out of 5 stars Clock Radio Alarm   October 19, 2008
Display is unnecessarily bright and all the dots make verifying that the alarm is set a dubious process. The am radio does not come in very clearly, though not sure if that is a hardware issue. On the plus, it's small and compact and I like that it tells the date. Beep function of alarm is loud enough for me and gets progressively louder which I also appreciate.

4 out of 5 stars good and safe   October 9, 2008
the appearance is quite good, I like it(except the black power cord as a tail in the back, but it's necessary, or will waste many batteries!). I like the functions and color!

3 out of 5 stars Nice alarm clock, but needlessly large!!   July 1, 2008

Got this for my wife ... when we took it out of the box, we were both rather stunned at how large the clock is - nearly 3x larger than her current clock?! Overall she's happy with it, so we're going to keep it ... but really, I can't see why the clock would have to be sooo large (takes up ~20% of the top of her nightstand, and it's not a small nightstand!)

3 out of 5 stars My 10 year old twins sleep through the alarm!!!   May 20, 2008

I kept having a problem with my 10 year olds forgetting to set their alarms at night or forgetting to reset the clock after an electrical 'hiccup'. Anyway, I bought them each one of these clocks so they'd never have to fuss with the time again. Let me say that part works GREAT! However, they both like to fall asleep listening to music which they have on a very low volume. The 'sleep' feature allows them to set the timer to 90/60/30/0 minutes till shut-off. Since they fall asleep to a low volume music, they are not able to set the wake-up alarm to 'radio'. They'd never hear it. So we set it to 'buzzer'. The sound is not a buzzer. It's a very pleasant beeping which is not that loud at all. If you wake easily this should not be a problem. My two DON'T wake easily. I still find myself having to wake them up. My next move... a foghorn blown from the sofa where I sit drinking my morning joe and watching the news. :)
