A practical tool to manage your health January 9, 2009 With a recommendation from my RD, I bought the scale as a Christmas gift to myself. I am using the scale to learn the carb count method to manage my diabetic control. I have been controlling my blood sugar at a pretty good level (average A1C at about 6.7 for the last five years). I want to achieve even better control for my blood sugar. The scale is exactly the tool to help me to achieve my goal. The scale itself is good and very practical. Although one can calculate 12 nutrients from the 999 foods programmed into the scale's memory, there is a significant drawback about the food lists. All the foods in the list are in a simple form. It can tell you the nutrients from mushroom,-white-microwaved, or bacons-baked, or pork-sirloin,-boneless- roasted. However, it cannot tell you the nutrients for "complex" cooking. For example, there is no way to find out a homemade beef stew, that contains many ingredients (carrot, celery, potato, green bean, pea, etc).
Nevertheless, the scale is good toll for anyone who wants to learn more about healthy eating. I have only used it less than a month. I already love it.
Great scale!! January 9, 2009 This is a great food scale. It should look at home on most counter tops. It has a very nice contemporary look. The functions are easy to use and very practical for most diet applications. The display is clear and easy to read. I bought this for my wife for christmas, but will probably use it as much as she does. It really is surprising to see how much, or rather how small, most serving sizes are. The scale is especially helpful if you use the calculator mode to determine fat, calories, carbs and etc....per serving size. I hope everyone who buys one has great success meeting their nurtritional goals.
Works Great January 8, 2009 Works great. I recently got a foodsaver in tandem, and make pre-made meals and freeze. I always know the calorie content and since I do most of my cooking on one day, it is a simple yet critical part to add to the process.
Food Scale January 7, 2009 I've waited a long time to get this food scale and finally got it for Christmas. I'm so glad I did, it's great and easy to use and clean. I got this to help myself become aware of what I'm eating and what serving sizes look like, that was a reality check in itself. I haven't been using it for long but I look forward to using it forever.
I would recommend January 6, 2009 This is the first food scale I've used and so far it seems great. I've been able to weigh foods and was quite surprised by what a serving really is! My only complaint is that the numbers going down the left hand side have stuck a couple of times. Nothing so bad I couldn't use the scale, just a little frustrating at times.
