Doesn't stay on the wall for very long... October 14, 2008 I purchased this as a rail for my mother to hold onto while in the shower to help her balance herself. I followed the instructions that came with the product and it worked great! For about 4 hours... Then in the middle of the night there was a loud crash as the bar fell off the inside of the shower wall. I tried again the following day and again after 4 or 5 hours it was laying in the bottom of the tub.
I am in need of something that will stay suctioned to the wall and doesn't need to be placed each time it is being used. Her shower is an insert and can't be drilled into to add a bar.
Good idea but not a permanent or even semi permanent solution.
Would give zero stars if possible October 2, 2008 My son installed this on my tiled bathtub wall for me, grasped the bar and leaned his weight back on it, and it broke in two immediately. I have severe osteoporosis, and if that had happened to me I would likely have broken something, so we are actually grateful if it was going to break it did it then. However, I would not recommend this product to anyone to whom safety and security are important.
Beyond disappointing -- DANGEROUS September 27, 2008 I bought the shower version of the suction cup rail; it is a little shorter. It worked fine the first week I used it, at a resort in Williamsburg. Since then, at a second hotel and at home, it has failed to hold onto the tile, even though I carefully followed the instructions on mounting it. It comes off the wall with very little pressure and I am lucky I did not fall on the floor and suffer serious injury. BE VERY CAREFUL USING THIS PRODUCT. IN FACT, I NO LONGER USE IT AT ALL. It is a lesson luckily learned before I was injured . . . or killed.
Slippery slope September 20, 2008 As one gets old--falling is a hazard we do not want to face. This bath rail is very secure and helps keep balance in th shower. I feel more secure in the shower with the rail on the wall.
Safety First September 15, 2008 My mom recently had a knee replacement. We wanted her to be safe getting in and out of the shower/tub. This bar gave us all peace of mind. Not only was it safe for her to grab on to, but she also felt independent again since she was able to get in and out of the tub by herself. It's easy to install and move to wherever you want in the shower. I have since spread the word to other friends with aging parents. I wish I had known about it sooner.
