 Just what I needed February 18, 2008
I've done the pre fit but have not had to use them yet. A pre-fit is a must. They fit great, but if you have never used them or seen them instaled, you will need the test to insure that it will be hasle free the day you do need them.
 Cable clips did not fit together properly January 29, 2008

I bought two sets of these chains before a snowboarding trip just in case we needed them at some point. Before we left, I opened one of the sets of chains to practice installing them on the vehicle and to check them for proper fit and operation. Installation would have gone incredibly smoothly were it not for the clips that link the cable on the outboard side of the tire. On the set of chains I opened, the crimps that linked the cable clips to the cable did not provide enough clearance to properly connect the cable ends to each other. I was able to remedy the issue in the garage but I never would have been able to use the chains in the snow if I hadn't checked first. I am seriously considering returning the second, unopened, set of chains I purchased because I don't want to mess with them.
If the cable clips had fit together properly out of the package, I would have given this product 5 stars. I would recommend this product but I would also recommend test fitting your chains before you need to use them.

First experience with tire chains and found them great. Very easy to install and uninstall. Bag is a little small for chains, but works ok. The best add-on was the plastic-long-sleeve gloves provided so you don't get your clothes and hands dirty.
I strongly recommend them.

I found this product effective. I traveled safely to my destination and had to drive about .5 miles up a steep hill to complete my journey. I was unable to climb the hill due to the amount of snow, had to back down, put the chains on and walked right up the hill. There were a couple exceptions as to why this item didn't get a higher rating. One of the yellow clips used to pull the chains tight in the middle of the tire came off and because of the tension is probably circling the atmosphere (I used the end of a bungee cord as a replacement). I found areas of my white raised lettering on one of the tires chopped off as well as two places on the sidewall have worn through the black rubber coating exposing the next layer. It is critical to practice putting the chains on before you need them. Carry a flashlight with extra batteries. I guess that's about it. Very effective item, though the other mentioned items were disappointing.
