Surperior to OEM February 23, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Excellent bulb. Hella quality. Superior to OEM.
I hated overdriving the meager 55-watt OEM bulbs and I was disappointed by a set of Sylvania Silverstars: I didn't like their blue tint and they burned out too quickly. To get me home, I picked up a pair of GE 9006 "Value Pack" bulbs "Made in Hungary" at Wal-Mart only to discover they were only 51 Watts!
These are a simple plug-n-play installation -- I swapped-out both headlights in less than five minutes. Just use caution not to touch the glass or leave fingerprints on the bulbs. I used isopropyl alcohol to clean my fingers and the bulbs before installation.
Be aware that most US-manufacture automobile wiring harnesses will not handle the increased current requirements of these bulbs. 80 Watts at 12 Volts means these babies are drawing almost 7 Amps each. I have had no problems using them in Acura, Honda and Toyota, but they burned-up the wiring harness in two Ford Explorers. If in doubt, use a power relay adapter cable.
The Hella model/item number listed in the heading is correct. However, the photo shows a twin-pack of "Xenon Blue" Hella bulbs "Made in Germany". The actual item is a single conventional Hella halogen bulb in a yellow cardboard box "Made in Germany". Actually, I prefer these bulbs to the pricier "Xenon Blue" bulbs.
The packaging was marginal at best, but (fortunately) none of the bulbs were damaged in transit.
Perfectly good SINGLE HB4/9006 bulb - but wrong photo. March 15, 2007 Nothing wrong with this bulb - works fine and it is the Hella model/item number listed in the heading. However, as of this moment, the photo shows a twin-pack of "xenon blue" Hella bulbs "Made in Germany". The actual item that arrived was a single conventional halogen bulb in a yellow cardboard box made by Hella "in India". As I said, it works well and the price is very good - but don't expect a pair of the fancier "xenon blue" bulbs for this price.
