Spectra is as much as three times stronger than Polyester cables of equivalent weight, and its weight-to-strength ratio is approximately five times stronger than steel wire. A first choice for many marine and geological applications, Spectra is a soft hand cable that is easy to splice. It has very low dielectric constants and loss tangent with longer flex fatigue life than other high strength cables. Elongation at break: 4 Percent to 5 Percent. Melts at 284 Degrees F (140 Degrees C). Low density Spectra Cable provides high specific strength, low stretch, zero water absorption and superior abrasion resistance in both wet and dry conditions.
