Amazon.com Review Produced by a leader in the garden-tools market, the Fiskars bypass pruner is perfect for precise, clean cutting of green growth. The pruner features Fiskars' trademarked PowerGear design, which maximizes lopper leverage to reduce cutting effort and is an ingenious innovation with impressive results. As you draw the long lopper handles together, the outside handle moves the gears, closing the blade with less exertion. The replaceable xylan-coated blade reduces friction and resists rust, and the handles are made of aluminum, so they're light and cause less fatigue. With its 2-inch cutting capacity, this is definitely a professional-quality pruner; even weekend gardeners can benefit from its fantastic design. Limited lifetime warranty.

Not work Fun October 28, 2008 These things are "GREAT", and the price was awsome. I own another pair of these this size, I am not able to use them because I lost them in my neighbors pond. Sooooooooo I had to order another pair. If you are looking for a great set of loppers that WILL do the job, and actually make it fun these are the ones to get. I also have a small hand pair. Have had them for 5 years. Still perform like new. I even bought the small size, and the large size for my 80 year old Mom whom insists on still cutting yard limbs, etc. (which I am proud of her) Guys these would even make a nice Christmas gift for your wife. Just don't tell her I said that. LOL.
Fiskars PowerGear 31-1/2-Inch Bypass Lopper #9154 August 8, 2008 Because of the length and the power gear, you have to spread your arms wide in order to make this 2" cut, which can be troublesome in many cases, if you ever come across a power gear2 design, i'd suggested you buy it instead, a 27 inch power gear2 also cuts 2" while your arms don't have to do spread eagle all afternoon, this one serves the purpose, but tiresome after 15 minutes.
Work great. Lightweight. Great Leverage. July 18, 2008 I've had these for a month or so. Lopped off some big (3") limbs with ease. Small stuff (2" and less) is a breeze. You'd have to be pretty pathetic physical shape not to be able to cut <2" limbs.
Blade is easily replaceable (two bolts), but a file or grinding stone will probably keep it in tip top sharpness for many years.
Lightweight and easy to use. Highly recommended.
All Fiskars products have Lifetime Guarantees and I've recently exchanged one of their hand pruners (damaged trying to cut limbs than needed a lopper) with no questions asked.
Buy these. You won't regret it.
I doubt I'll ever buy another garden tool without the Fiskar's name on it.
GREAT TOOL !!! July 18, 2008 We love these loppers. This was actually a replacement for a lost pair. We couldn't live without them. Great product and wonderful customer service. Thanks !!
PowerGear feature makes pruning trees extremely difficult July 13, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
The PowerGear feature is this product's achilles heel, which can make cutting larger branches (say 1-inch or more) very difficult or impossible. PowerGear works by using a reduction gear near the blade. This means you have to open the handles much, much wider than other loppers. For example, to cut a 2-inch branch the handles need to be opened literally 180 degrees apart, i.e. all the way open. This means pruning a branch that is in close proximity to other branches (the usual case) just isn't going to happen. I will say the price is good and the blade seems very sharp and durable. In my experience however, this simply is not a tool for serious pruning. At this point I will have to buy a traditional loopper to maintain the trees in my yard.
