This body of this wooden smooth plane is made form a single piece of white oak.
The plane is equiped with a 2 inches wide Hock High Carbon iron assembly. The iron has not been honed. Hone the blade before first use. A good quality honing jig is highly recommended. Do it slowly and enjoy the process.
The iron assembly is hold in place with a wooden wedge under a brass pin. Use a small hammer to adjust the depth of cut. Always start with the lightest cut as you can at the very begining. After a little practice, you should be able to make paper like shavings with whisper sound.
As all wooden products, please wait for a few weeks before tuning the plane body, until the wood settles in your own shop. A light coat of wax can also help protect the plane body.
