Amazon.com Review Whether you've just outgrown your router or are looking for more shaping versatility, this shaper from Jet is the most affordable way to expand your repertoire. Interchangeable 1/2- and 3/4-inch spindles let you use a greater range of cutters. A 3-horsepower, single-phase motor offers plenty of power to smoothly run larger cutters. A two-speed, step-pulley drive with reverse spins at either 8,000 or 10,000 rpm for working with a variety of cutters and materials. Housed within a sturdy, one-piece steel stand the motor is protected from dust and debris for years of reliable cutting performance. The unit's fully enclosed heavy duty steel stand keeps the motor clean, and has a removable motor cover for easy maintenance. The unit also uses - and -inch router collets, so you can still use those regular shank router bits you cut your teeth on. A 25-by-18-inch solid cast-iron table and 25-by-7-inch extension with T slots ensures optimal stability and provides plenty of room for working with larger stock. Four fully adjustable hold-downs help keep the workpiece steady for precise shaping. An up-front hand wheel makes it easy to adjust the spindle up and down without having to step aside. Heavy duty magnetic controls ensure safety in the shop. For quick and easy fence assemblies the unit is equipped with unique ratcheting style levers. And, a 4-inch dust port means cleaner work pieces and healthier lungs. -- Brian OlsonWhat's in the Box - and -inch interchangeable spindles, - and -inch router collets, work piece hold-downs, T-slot miter gauge, micro-adjust fence; closed stand, cutter guard, 4-inch dust port, 7- by 25-inch cast iron extension wing

Great Shaper!! October 20, 2002 55 out of 59 found this review helpful
I recently purchased the Jet JWS-25Cs and could not be more happy with the product, pleanty of power!! Setup was easy, no surprises. Fence system is solid. Comes with 1/2 and 1/4 router bit collets. Spindle changes are relatevely easy. Unfortunately you need to open the rear access door to make spindle changes, I wish they designed it to be done from the side access panel to avoid, in my case, having to move the machine away from the wall to open the rear door. I have heard some comments about router bits not working well in shapers because router bits are designed to spin faster. I can tell you that I tried several router bit and they work just fine at the 10,000 rpm setting.
