Nice, small, light, December 2, 2008 I haven't used this enough to review the functionality of the tool. This is the first time I've used an impact driver, so it's a little different than the drill I'm used to lugging around. It's very small has a nice charger, spare battery and gun in one case. I'd get the longer bits, to keep from having to use an adapter.
It's a bit odd hearing the clicking as the clutch engages much sooner than I'm used to with a regular drill clutch. Once you get used to the noise, it does do the job well, although for screws in wood, it's not as fast as a drill. But the size may be worth it. I'll have to update this review after I have some more time to play with it.
I was surprised that there is a built-in flashlight on the drill head. Very nice when working in dark places. If you lightly squeeze the trigger the light will come on without engaging the driver.
jammin'!! November 4, 2008 This is the smallest & yet the most powerful driver I've ever used. It jams 'em right in.
I'm just a DIYer but some recent big projects needed lots of screwing into 2x4s. Floor fixes & bathtub support replacement! Bang! Bang! Bang! When that impacter hits - it's noisy! And the screws go in FAST! Interestingly they come OUT even faster, shockingly fast, like a 2 1/2 inch screw comes out in a second. Cool!
THIS is the tool they warn you about with the "torque settings" (which I never had a problem with set on MAX) adjustments on other tools. A light touch does most jobs fine. It will drive screws THROUGH whatever, and thin soft wood cracks & splinters like candy! Oopsy!
Pro's may want to go with the Makita BTD142HW 18V for a job site, but this is 2/3 the strength (more that enough), 2/3 the weight, and can be found for 2/3 the price(or less). Nicely rounded out specs.
Powerful little sucker September 13, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
When you hear the name Bosch, you think of cha-ching! Most of their products cost 2X more than any other brand (appliances to power tools). However, there is a reason for this. Their products are the best you can buy. This impact driver is small yet has a lot of torque. I've removed screws and bolts that my 18V drill couldn't. Good buy.
