4 out of 5 stars AHA! This one works.   November 3, 2008

These batteries obviously have many problems. This is actually the second one, that I have, that works. 2 out of 5 is totally ridiculous. This is also the first one purchased from amazon.com - no complaint there.

5 out of 5 stars Better than expected   October 10, 2008

After reading all the other reviews, I expected to have problems with the 1.5 AH but they work fine. I did a time test with the flashlight and they lasted 2 hours each. Using it on the impact/driver for handy work it lasted all day. This may not be the toughest test but they work good as a back-up battery, and are a lot less expensive and weight considerably less than a 3 AH.

I did talk to a Makita dealer who wishes to remain anonymous, and he said that were problems with the 1.5 AH when they first released.

5 out of 5 stars Nice addition to my Makita arsonal!   September 16, 2008

Light in weight and heavy on power! I purchased the Makita BL1815 battery pack which is the smaller of the Makita 18 Volt Lithium-Ion compact batteries that can power the Makita D140 impact driver. I am very happy with the flexibility this battery adds. Because of the smaller size of the driver with installed battery I can reach into spaces that previously required a flex bit or 90 degree chuck. Even rated at only 1.5 Ah this very light package drives quite a few lag bolts before needing a charge. Be sure to only charge the battery when it is discharged since recharging a fully charged Li-Ion unit will shorten its life or worse.
I own a 9.6 V 3/8" Makita Drill (Model 6093D) that is 23 yrs young. I also have the 3/8" 12 volt drill and the 1/2" 18 Volt drill both with Ni-MH batteries. When the 9.6 V Ni-Cd stick battery stopped taking a charge I replaced it with a Ni-MD and upgraded to a Jacobs 1/2" keyless chuck. I like my Makita tools!
I would recommend that you try the new Li-Ion tools and batteries. I am impressed with the driving power that is packed into these small and light units. Having the right tools makes home repairs easier and most important, fun!

5 out of 5 stars Works great so far.   September 5, 2008

I recieved two slimpack batteries with my makita drill purchased on Amazon two months ago and so far they are working great. I don't know what's up with other folk's batteries dying on them so soon, maybe it was a problem that was fixed since they bought theirs or maybe I just have to wait longer and see what happens with mine. A lot of the guys at jobsites have been switching to these, especially carpenters and cabinet guys, since they are so light, compact and have lots of power. Not to mention the good deal Makita has for the white combo kit with the drill, impact driver and light. All the guys I work with who have these love theirs and haven't had any problems that I know of, I would recommend them to anyone with Makita Lithium-Ion tools.
