Durable September 17, 2008 I am an industrial electrician and a mag light is metal. This plastic light I can lay and drop almost anywhere. The beam is fixed but is a good beam for just about everything. It is good for about 100 + feet.
The bad is that if you set it down on the lens cap it makes a good seal and you can't see any light, thus you leave it on.
Streamlight quality, but could be brighter September 5, 2008 This flashlight is built like a tank; it is MSHA certified for use in areas with methane in the air, so it's the perfect flashlight to keep around if you are a professional who often find him/herself in a dangerous location.
The version I tested has a Xenon bulb, and produces a fairly bright yellow light. The light is nowhere near as bright as from most >1Watt LED lights out there, and Streamlight does make an LED version of this lamp.
The clip is sturdy, and a ring is included to hook a lanyard to it.
I only spent $12 on mine, and that is about the most I'd be willing to pay for a non LED flashlight, but if you need a flashlight with specifcations like this, then the usual price is certainly worth it.
